Pregnant hamsters
This is a picture of a pregnant syrian
Hamster pregnancies typically last from 17 days (for Syrian hamsters) to 18 to 22 days (in the case of dwarf hamsters). It is not always easy to detect pregnancy in a hamster, but changes in behavior and appearance can give clues as to the hamster's state. If a female hamster begins gathering bedding into a "nest," eating and drinking more or if she gains weight, she is probably pregnant. It is essential to give a female hamster plenty of space during this time period, to prevent her from cannibalizing her young.
Keep her away from crowds and loud surroundings momma hamster need a quite place and dark away from the sun, if you put her outside on bright places or loud places they'll get depress and could eat or kill their new born and also could become stressed and aggrasive
Don't touch her and always keep her bowl full with nutrition like hamsterfood and keep their water bottle full also you can put a few drop of vitamins into their water bottle, I suggest you close her cage with cloth or something so she won't feel threatened by your or someone presence

- Syrian hamsters have been known to give birth to over 20 pups!
- A Syrian hamsters heart can beat over 300 beats per minute and up to 500bpm!

- Certain dwarf species can delay the birth of their unborn litter if they are already nursing a litter!
- In a case where several mothers are housed in the same cage they may share responsibility of the litters and nurse a litter that is not their own. If a mother dies another female may take over nursing the pups! This actually happened to me. Two females had their litter in the same cage. One litter was a little older than the other. Both mothers cared for the pups from both litters. It was actually amazing to watch.
- In a group of Dwarf hamsters if the cage is too crowded the female can produce pheromones which can change hormone production and signal other females to stop mating!
- Yuck! My hamster ate his poop!! Why? Hamsters eat their poop to absorb nutrients that were not previously digested!
- Hamsters can carry half their body weight in their cheek pouches
- If a male Syrian hamster smells a female on your hands he may lick you!
Hamster Types
There are 5 types of hamster,
1.Syrian Hamsters / Golden hamsters
Chinese hamsters are probably the most uncommon, certainly when it comes to finding hamsters in pet shops.
They can be quite friendly litlle hamsters and often have a good temperment. You can keep them in pairs but if they fight they will need to be separated. They are quite small when fully grown and look a bit like a mouse excepy they don't have long tails
1.Syrian Hamsters / Golden hamsters
When you first buy Syrian Hamster it probably needs to be tamed. Leave it/them in the cage for the first day to allow time to adjust to the new surroundings. Then start to gently stroke it/them for several minutes a few times a day until it is used to you.
The Syrian Hamster is sometimes referred to as the 'Golden Hamster' due to its original wild golden colouring although today there are many different colour and coat mutations. It is also sometimes referred to as the 'Standard Hamster
2.Campbells
Campbells are much smaller than Syrians and live
in colonies. They are relatively friendly to each other, although sometimes fights do break out, especially if the dominant female is challenged. If one is being picked on and is injured you should move them into a cage of their own,Once separated, it is unlikely you will be able to re-introduce them at a later date.Campbells have a reputation of biting humans, although it you're lucky you might find one who is very friendly. They csn be pretty sweet but when they step to adulthood they can be aggressive
3. Winter White
These hamsters look very similar to Campbells but in fact they are smaller and their colouring is different. Winter Whites tend to be a dark grey colour, whereas Campbells are often brown - having said that, you can get black eyed white and platinum Campbells.Despite their resemblance to Campbells, they are less territorial, friendlier and easier to handle.
4.Roborovski
Roborovski hamsters are the tiniest species of hamster, and the least common as pets. They are about 2 inches in length and move very quickly, making them difficult to handle. They can live in same-sex or mixed-sex groups or pairs if introduced a young age. The life span is about 3 years.
They are great fun to watch as they are very active and entertaining. Due to their size and speed they are not ideal for small children who want to handle their pet. They are generally very healthy hamsters.
5. Chinese

Preparation to take home a hamster
Hamsters are one of the easiest pets to care for, they don't require much space, they are clean animals and are inexpensive to maintain. Each has its own special personality and, if handled correctly and frequently enough they can be very friendly and lovable.
But theres somethings you need to know before you take one home,
2.
Hamster are affordable and inexpensive - still you are going to spent a lot of money for their cage, water bottle,food,hay..etc.And your going to spent money for the rest of their life for new foods, water bottle etc
3. Hamster are really good for childrens - But even though they're really good with childrens and looks pretty harmless they still can bite or scratch childrens under age and they are cannibals so better dont leave your child alone with the hamster unattended
4. hamster can get sick too! - hamsters have illness and diseases they have many types of illness and you have to take them to the vet and the bill for the medications are usually higher then the hamsters itself
5. Hamsters can make some noise at night; wheel squeaking, biting on the cage, or digging or scratching at cage bottoms. This can prove to be terribly irritating. (Hamsters also make little squeaking sounds if they are fighting.)
6. Hamsters do not turn your house upside down - but they occasionally turn their cage inside out! You may have to replace items regularly (like waterbottles if it chews on it) and perhaps sweep around its cage everyday, where they've kicked out shavings. This might not appeal to extremely tidy pple who like to see their house spick and span at all times.
